"The game of life is not so much in holding a good hand as playing a poor hand well."

Life is what's happening while you're doing other things.

This book is a gathering of bits and pieces of my own life. I have tried to live in a manner to maximize enjoyment. I lived deeply every day learning to love life and little children, to laugh a lot - mostly at myself and to enjoy living.

I present it to you as a collection of short stories to entertain, to give pause for remembrance, maybe contemplation of your own future.

Wealth, you know, is not measured in gold or how many mourn when you die. True riches are the number of folks along the way who are glad that you lived.

Don’t take yourself too seriously. You only go through life once but, if you do it right, maybe once is enough? Enjoy!

Excerpt from "Spring," "Sunrise" "Life is not a Destination"

Sunrise is a beautiful time of day. A person can feel alone, a kind of "oneness" with the world and God and whatever. Maybe that’s part of what makes it beautiful.
Those who are about at sunrise; truck drivers flexing stiff muscles, a night shift worker sleepily heading home to bed, a policeman grabbing a quick cup of coffee, it's a brief moment of privacy, of introspection, a pause.
One person may watch as the sun's rim just breaks the horizon. Another admires the brightening, changing blue of the sky; another watches the contrast between the blue of the sky and the darker blue of the water. Someone else sees the first rays of sunlight touching the top of a tree or a building. It may be for several minutes or it may be as brief as a moment. That thought, that momentary impression would stay a precious gem in the jewel box of memory.
